Welcome! Who are we?
The point of this blog is two fold:
1. Chronicle two handsome fellows as the navigate the current job market, or lack there of, and;
2. Get jobs!
So enjoy!
Now, we know you might have some questions. Fire away.
"Um... excuse me, but I still don't why I want to read this? I mean, who are you two?"
Fletch and Bobby. We just graduated from Cardozo School of Law in New York City, sat the New York Bar exam in July, and are awaiting the results (mid November, we hope).
That's it?
Oh, there's more to us, for sure, but this is an introduction. Since graduating, we both became single! Amicably. Bobby's ex-girlfriend just started her 1L year of law school (poor thing), and Fletch is getting divorced. In the mean time, we grew and shaved various quantities of facial hair while stimulating the economy by attending many a happy hour. Throughout it all, we searched for work, moved, slept on couches, floors and air mattresses (Fletch is still enjoying a sometimes leaky air bed).
So what should we expect form this blog?
Great question! Here's our hope:
This is about the current job search experience and sharing our stories navigating the city and life while deferring 200K in student loans.
So this is a victim story?
NO! These are not victim stories! Sure, some of the stories might be a little disheartening, but come on, that's life. We are trying to throw some positive perspective and optimism on this difficult and often frustrating experience.
Let's remove some of the poison from this potentially agonizing process with some light humor and a good old fashion positive outlook. There are plenty of people on the web who like to rant, so if that's what you're looking for, good luck! For us, though, we like to laugh at them.
Hmmm... You two seem to have a lot time on your hands, huh?
We're unemployed! And we're becoming bloggers. Isn't that implied?
Fair enough.
Frankly, we don't know what this will become, but we're going to write posts, find others who might be doing similar activities and hopefully have fun in the process. Over the next few days we will attempt to to start daily postings and see where it goes. Some will be written together and some individually. We will try to write everyday, and for those days nothing interesting happens, we will share old stories and maybe write a few just for laughs. We may even proofread occasionally.
Hopefully, some of you will want to post your stories too. Please do!
Just one request: be positive!
Or not. Venting is often very amusing. And as always, spelling & grammar is precatory. Or optional. After all, this is a blog.
So there you go. Welcome to the HireUsPlease blog!
